For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion, carrots, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables soften.
- Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add frozen peas and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
