For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 Thai chilies, sliced
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 2 eggs (optional, for serving)
  • Steamed rice (for serving)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and Thai chilies, stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  4. Stir in oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Mix well.
  5. Add Thai basil leaves and stir until wilted, about 1 minute.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice, optionally topped with a fried egg.
